For Dr. Tyrone Malloy, practicing medicine has been only one part of his professional career. Teaching and physician training have also played an important role in his work.
In 2001, Dr. Malloy joined the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Emory University School of Medicine as an adjunct clinical faculty member. There, he helped train physicians in reproductive healthcare, including Emory University’s first Complex Family Planning Fellow.
Sharing Clinical Experience
By the time he joined Emory, Dr. Malloy had already developed extensive experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology, reproductive healthcare, medical leadership, and clinical research.
His academic role gave him the opportunity to share that experience with physicians developing their own expertise.
Dr. Malloy also trained residents at Emory University and through the Wellstar Ob/Gyn Residency Program at Wellstar Hospital in Kennesaw, Georgia.
His teaching included reproductive healthcare and later abortion care, extending his clinical experience into physician education and mentorship.
Contributing Through Medical Education
Training residents and fellows allows experienced physicians to share clinical knowledge, judgment, and practical experience with the next generation of healthcare professionals.
Through his work at Emory and Wellstar, Dr. Malloy contributed to the education of physicians preparing for careers in Obstetrics and Gynecology and reproductive healthcare.
A Career of Medicine and Mentorship
Education has remained closely connected to Dr. Malloy’s broader professional work.
His career has included private practice, medical leadership, clinical research, academic medicine, and the training of residents, fellows, and other physicians.
His work as an educator reflects a career focused not only on providing patient care, but also on sharing specialized medical knowledge and experience with other healthcare professionals.
