Throughout his career, Dr. Tyrone Malloy has combined clinical practice with research and the advancement of reproductive healthcare.
In 1995, while serving as Medical Director of the Feminist Women’s Health Center in Atlanta, Dr. Malloy represented the southeastern United States as a Principal Investigator in five clinical trials involving mifepristone and misoprostol. Data generated through these trials contributed to the FDA approval process for mifepristone for medication abortion.
From Clinical Practice to Clinical Research
Dr. Malloy’s involvement in this research built upon his experience in Obstetrics and Gynecology and reproductive healthcare. He was first introduced to the management of second- and third-trimester abortion care while attending the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where he earned his medical degree in 1975.
As a Principal Investigator, Dr. Malloy participated directly in the clinical research process, contributing data as part of the southeastern U.S. research effort.
